About Dr. Adam Tan BSc(H) DMD FAGD AIAOMT Dr. Adam Tan BSc(H) DMD FAGD AIAOMT is a best-selling author for a book he co-authored titled “Healthy Input: America’s Leading Dentists Reveal the Secret Truths to a Healthy Body, Starting with What You Put in Your Mouth” featuring advice and practices from the leading dental experts. This book can be found on Amazon.com and all proceed from the sale of that book was given by the authors to a charity that helps new authors get their work published. He has received the Quilly® Award for this book and wrote as a regular columnist for the local Barrie Independent Newspaper. Dr. Tan's credentials include: Past President of the Muskoka-Simcoe Dental Society (MSDS), Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and Academy of Osseointegration, member of the Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and achieved Accredited status the International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (AIAOMT), American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Cranial Facial Pain (Canadian Chapter), American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE) and the International Association of Orthodontics (IAO). Dr. Tan believes that every business should actively promote philanthropy, especially in giving back to the community in which the business resides. With an annual dental charity event he started called “Smiles On Us,” Dr. Tan and his team continuously provides free dental care to any and all underserved members of the community. Leading up to 2014, Smiles On Us Events gave away over $61,000.00 in free dentistry. He participates annually as a major sponsor, fundraising for The Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, the YMCA, and the Ontario Provincial Police bike giveaways for their Children’s Safety Village in Orillia, which teaches public school children about traffic safety, and the D.A.R.E programs in Barrie, that promotes drug awareness for highschool students. His team provides below cost hockey sports guards to hockey teams and helps parents save several thousand dollars yearly equipping their kids. Dr. Tan has appeared on A Channel News, CTV News, Rogers Cable Television Daily Show, the CBC Morning Show, KICX 106 FM, B101FM, The Dock, Sunshine 89.1 FM Radio, regularly on The Orillia Packet and Times and Orillia Today newspapers. Tan is proud that he was nominated for the Scotia Bank Service Award and won the Arch Brown Entrepreneur Excellence Award, which is the highest level of achievement recognized by the by the City of Barrie’s Chamber of Commerce. His certifications include: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Therapeutic Botox, Surgical and prosthetic implant procedures for leading implant systems including Nobel Biocare, Straumann, 3i, Bicon, Paragon, Biohorizon, Zimmer, attending International Implant Symposiums and advanced zygomatic implant techniques from Manhattan, New York including the use of Computer Guided Implant Surgery (NobelGuide) and advanced surgical techniques with the Nobel Active implant system. Certified for advanced Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) dental restorations by the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry, Dr. Tan is an early innovator in promoting the use of this technology for almost a decade. He is certified for conscious sedation including oral sedatives, nitrous oxide, and intravenous sedation. Certified in orthodontics with the Comprehensive Straight Wire and Functional Orthodontics Program, Invisalign® certified level 1 and 2, Invisalign Teen®, Invisalign Express® and Invisalign® provider, Dr. Tan is internationally recognized as an Invisalign Preferred Provider. Certified in all wavelengths of dental lasers, he is one of only a handful of doctors that integrate the use of soft tissue lasers and Low Level Lasers as part of their daily practice. Dr. Tan was one of the only 300 doctors worldwide in 2014 for his certification in the innovative Pinhole Surgery Technique®. Dr. Tan is married to Wendy, whom he met at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, while obtaining his Bachelors of Science Degree with Honors. He went on to attain his degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Tan and Wendy are now blessed with three sons Ryan, Daniel and Lucas. Dr. Tan enjoys spending time and traveling with his family.
